SFI: End of Expression of Interest Requirement

News

Members will be aware of the recent requirement to submit an Expression of Interest ahead of applying for the Sustainable Farming Incentive in England. That requirement is to be lifted this week, and applications invited through the Rural Payments Service. Those farming on commons, however, should continue to express their interest with the Rural Payments Agency.

Natural England and DEFRA are carrying out user research in the Magic Map application. They are looking for feedback on the service from users and non-users alike. The short survey can be found here. CAAV Note 231018: England - Changes to General Binding Rules for Discharge Points from 2nd October 2023

From 2nd October, any small sewage discharge point started must comply with two new general binding rules. The rules are minimum conditions and limits set by Environmental Permitted Regulations. 231017 Scotland: Final extension to tenants protection measures

Documents

The Scottish Parliament has voted to extend measures to protect tenants to March 2024. The measures, under The Cost of Living (Tenant Protection) Act 2022, introduced in October 2022, include the 3% rent cap and additional eviction protections. England and Wales: Boiler Upgrade Scheme - Grant Increased

In his speech on 20th September setting out changes to net zero targets, the Prime Minister announced that grants made for the installation of heat pumps would be increased. The Secretary of State has issued a notice under Regulation 13 of the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (England and Wales) Regulations 2022 that the grant will be increased from £5,000 for air source heat pumps and £6,000 for ground source heat pumps to £7,500 for both types of heat pump.
