210420 England: Right to Rent checks - temporary arrangements cease on 16th May 2021

The temporary measures on Right to Rent checks (introduced on 30th March 2020 to overcome the difficulties of checking documents in person) will end on 16th May 2021. The Recovery Loan Scheme was launched on 6th April and will be available until 31st December 2021 to support UK businesses recovering from the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. 210330 England: RPA – Scheduled unavailability of systems

The RPA has advised that the Rural Payments system should be expected to be unavailable for scheduled maintenance from 6pm to midnight each Wednesday, except in weeks when there is a major release onto it. The foreseen major releases are: - today, 30th March - June 2nd when Rural Payments will be closed from 4pm to 7am. There will always be the occasional need for unscheduled closures of Rural Payments.

210222 England: Leech Homes v Northumberland County Council - Appeal

The Court of Appeal has dismissed an appeal against the Upper Tribunal's decision that land owned by Leech Homes and acquired by the Council for a bypass scheme was protected by Green Belt policies (see CAAV website note of 12th May 2020), but it upheld Leech Homes' appeal against the costs order (see website note of 7th December 2020). 210218 England: Calculation issue in the Countryside Stewardship 2021 Mid-Tier Annex on the Capital Grants Summary Page

The RPA has become aware of an issue with the calculations in the Countryside Stewardship 2021 Mid-Tier Annex on the Capital Grants Summary Page which it is working to correct. It advises that, in the meantime, potential applicants should continue to complete the main sheets (Annex 1 and Annex 2) with their options and capital items, submitting them by replying to the RPA e-mail which contained the original annexes.
