BASIS Environmental Advisers Register - Acquired Rights - 31st December Deadline

BASIS, the agricultural and environmental qualifying and training body, has developed a register for environmental advisers. With the growing focus on environmental delivery through Government schemes and private initiatives, the intention is to provide an industry platform for those who plan to offer farm environmental advice to businesses in the UK.

More detail on the register can be found here: BASIS | Environmental Advisers Register (basis-reg.co.uk).

In the future, entry to the register will require the completion of the BASIS Certificate in Sustainable Land Management, the successor course to the BETA Conservation Management training that some members may have completed in the past.

However, until 31st December 2023, there is an acquired rights route to entry. Under this route, prospective members of the register need to have either:

  • A minimum of three years’ experience of delivering environmental advice to farmers and land managers
  • Successfully completed the BETA Conservation Management Course

31st December is the deadline for the submission for applications on the acquired rights route. The subsequent confirmation and approval of the application can be completed in the new year. Those interested in applying to the register, who meet the criteria above, are encourage to do so before the end of the year.

More detail on the register and application can be found here: BASIS | Aquired Rights - Applying to be a Member of the Environmental Advisers Register (basis-reg.co.uk).
