Job Description:

An exceptional opportunity to assume a pivotal role as Head of Property & Estates for Luss Estates Company, a forward thinking, family-owned rural estate business which encompasses circa 45,000 acres on the shores of Loch Lomond and offers an increasing array of commercial, environmental and community focussed activities.

Reporting to the Chief Executive and in regular communication with the Family, the Head of Property & Estates will be responsible for the leadership of the Property & Estates team and will manage, enhance, and optimise the performance of the Estate’s diverse rural property portfolio ensuring its long-term future as a profitable and sustainable business, and preserving the Family’s heritage for future generations.

Responsibilities will be varied and include managing the agricultural, residential, and commercial let property portfolio, the estate maintenance department and hydro scheme, the in-hand farm, forestry and woodlands and the game department, as well as prioritising environmental sustainability initiatives and seeking out new opportunities for diversification. You will foster collaboration among other department heads (namely retail, leisure, finance).

The Candidate

The successful candidate will have the necessary energy, enthusiasm, business expertise and vision to support the delivery and growth of the business whilst respecting the traditional and unique nature of the Estate. Important candidate attributes include:

  • MRICS qualified with a proven track record in managing property and rural operations and some experience in identifying areas for improvement and new revenue generation within a diverse rural business.
  • An engaging and friendly character with strong leadership qualities. People focussed, someone who leads by example and who is confident and can interact and develop strong relationships with tenants, local bodies, and the broader community.
  • Commercially and financially astute, with a keen eye for both maximising revenue opportunities and day to day operational effectiveness.
  • Well organised, methodical, good attention to detail.
  • Motivated and inspired to make a positive impact on the local environment and community.
