Avian Influenza: GB Prevention Zone Lifted

DEFRA has announced that the Avian Influenza Prevention Zone covering England, Scotland and Wales has been lifted with effect from midday on 4th July. This follows the lifting of the AIPZ in Northern Ireland on 2nd June, recorded here.

The risk of AI in wild birds reportedly remains high. All poultry gatherings such as at fairs, shows and markets are still banned. Mandatory restrictions around infected premises continue in force. DEFRA continues to advise that good biosecurity is key to protection of flocks.
