Gasson Associates are a well-established multi-disciplined, rural business with a focus on farm business consultancy and land/property management.

We are looking to recruit a general practice rural surveyor who has a passion for agriculture. Candidates will have energy, enthusiasm, and an interest in strategic thinking to join our highly motivated team. We are looking for someone who can add value to our clients’ businesses.

This role would suit a general practice rural surveyor with at least 2 years PQE and a CAAV fellow or equivalent preferred. Full or part time will be considered.

THE ROLE

Specific

  • Undertaking strategic farm business reviews
  • Producing Farm/Estate budgets, cashflows and reports
  • Helping clients to make business decisions
  • Assisting clients with new schemes during the agricultural transition period
  • Advising on SFI, Countryside Stewardship and other funding opportunities
  • Advising on biodiversity net gain and Carbon opportunities
  • Compensation & Utilities work
  • Rural Planning & Development work
  • Tenancy work both Rural & Commercial
  • Overseeing contract farming agreements and other joint ventures
  • Assisting with, and if appropriate leading on, delivery of a range of development and diversification opportunities
  • Managing property portfolios, both residential and commercial
  • Developing own specialist area

General

  • Providing cost effective advice to our clients
  • Assisting other consultants in advice delivery
  • Being involved in the marketing of the company to prospective clients

Person Specification

  • Ideally a qualified member of the RICS/CAAV with at least 2 years PQE
  • Team focused and self-motivated
  • Commitment to high standards of work and quality service to clients
  • Strong IT skills
  • Excellent communication skills, with an ability to form a rapport with clients
  • Sound understanding of the principles of accounting and budgeting
  • Knowledge of and enthusiasm for farming, property and rural matters
  • Practical farming experience would be beneficial
  • Commercial or technical background would be useful
  • Full UK driving licence and own car required

TRAINING & MENTORING

Training in house and specialist courses will be encouraged.
