CAAV Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) Pilot Recorded Webinar 2021

The SFI Pilot

As we move away from the schemes inherited from the CAP, the SFI Pilot is the first taste of the new financial assistance schemes under the Agriculture Act 2020 for “public money to buy public goods”. It is expressly a Pilot exploring how the eight different proposals work at farm level in a real agreement.

The initial outline of the Pilot and its options was given when it was opened for Expressions of Interest in March. DEFRA is to publish much more practical detail shortly and is selecting who will be invited to apply from the more than 2,000 Expressions of Interest. Applications will be in June for agreements to 2024 starting in October.

This Briefing and What It Will Cover

The CAAV is holding this webinar, supported by DEFRA, to give members advising potential applicants and others the opportunity to be directly briefed in detail and put questions.

Speakers, including Jeremy Moody for the CAAV and James LePage of DEFRA, will cover:

- The background and objectives of the SFI Pilot

- What it will pay for: the Pilot’s eight Standards, how they will work?

- Applications: who can apply on what land, when and how?

- Participation, feedback and compliance.

- Relationship with the other environmental land management schemes.
