Industry calls for 'Gove guarantee' on agri-environment schemes

The CAAV, CLA, NFU, TFA, FWAG, GWCT, The Wildlife Trusts, RSPB and the National Trust have jointly written to the Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, The Right Hon. Michael Gove MP, requesting some certainty for agri-environment scheme agreement holders that they will not be placed at a disadavantage when new schemes are introduced post-Brexit. New Electronic Communications Code

The new Electronic Communications Code is to take effect from 28th December 2017, Government has confirmed. The Commencement Order which will bring the Code into effect is expected to be published later today (15th December).

New UK Chief Veterinary Officer appointed

Christine Middlemiss has been appointed as the new UK Chief Veterinary Officer (CVO). She will take over the role from Nigel Gibbens who will step down at the end of February 2018. Please see GOV.UK for further information.

CAAV office - Thursday 7th September

DEFRA confirms £200 million funding for Rural Development Programme

DEFRA has confirmed that £200 million will be made available for schemes under the Rural Development Programme. Secretary of State Michael Gove sets out his vision for a 'Green Brexit'

The Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Michael Gove, sets out his vision for the delivery of a "Green Brexit" in a speech to WWF UK today. His speech is available on the GOV.UK website and lays out his ambition in terms of future agricultural policy and support payments following the UK's departure from the EU.

Permanent RPA Chief Executive Confirmed

PM calls a General Election on 8th June 2017

Prime Minister Theresa May will move a motion in the House of Commons tomorrow (19th April) calling for a general election on 8th June 2017. Under the Fixed-term Parliaments Act, any decision to call a general election must be voted on by the House of Commons. To go ahead, it will require a two-thirds majority vote. Brexit: Article 50 Triggered - Prime Minister's Statement
