A new opportunity has arisen for a Rural Surveyor with an innovative and professional approach, to assist the Estate Manager in all aspects of the day-to-day Estate management of this magnificent, traditional, family Estate, to deliver sustainable revenue growth in a cost-effective manner and with excellent customer service.

The Estate extends to approximately 13,500 acres and comprises three main Estates, together with land in Hertfordshire and a portfolio of commercial and residential property in London. This role will be based at Althorp in Northamptonshire and will include agricultural, residential, and commercial property, some planning and development work, together with close involvement in the farming enterprises, woodland management, managing restrictive covenants, the gardens at Althorp and conservations schemes.

The successful candidate will represent the Estate in dealing with staff, customers, tenants and the local community and act as the eyes and ears of the family. He/she is likely to have the following attributes:

  • A qualified Rural Surveyor, MRICS with a few years post qualification in rural estate management.
  • Ideally CAAV qualification but not essential.
  • Good presentation skills and negotiation skills with an analytical and enquiring mind.
  • High standards of personal and work presentation together with strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent attention to detail.
  • Initiative, creativity, enthusiasm, and persistence. A committed team player.
  • Excellent IT skills in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and other programs.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills. A confident, authoritative, and approachable manner.
  • Flexibility, a positive attitude, commitment, and a willingness to get involved.
  • The ability to work calmly under pressure and to prioritise and meet deadlines.
