An opportunity for a graduate who is looking to progress their career in rural surveying, with support to obtain MRICS/FAAV qualification, to join the Sheldon Bosley Knight Rural Land Agency Department in Shipston-upon-Stour, Warwickshire.

The Role

This role is to support the Rural Land Agency Department in all aspects of rural professional work including but not limited to:

  • Estate and property management,
  • Valuations,
  • Landlord and tenant, preparation of Farm Business Tenancies, Grazing Licences and Contract Farming Agreements,
  • Advising clients on farm support schemes (BPS, CSS, ELMS and other funding/support),
  • Land and property sales,
  • Utility and infrastructure compensation claims.

Key Responsibilities

To support the rural team in all aspects of Estate Management ensuring delivery of the best service to the Estate owners and Trustees.

Coordination of grants, Environmental Schemes and annual BPS applications.

Arranging grazing licence renewals and Farm Business Tenancies

Additional tasks


  • Arranging the care and maintenance of trees on managed estates
  • Coordinating the repair of damage caused by game
  • Arranging repairs on estates and meeting contractors and tenants on site
  • Inspections of estate property
  • Administration of common law tenancy renewals
  • Updating Property Terriers
  • Regular Estate visits

Professional Assistance

  • Grazing Licence renewals
  • Productivity grants
  • Assistance with CSS agreements
  • BPS Administration including letters to clients, maintaining spreadsheets and assistance with simple claims
  • FBT renewals
  • Organic land registrations
  • Declaration of footpaths
  • Entering agreements onto SBK’s Management system
  • Support with land sales
  • Complete Promap plans
  • Assistance with Valuations

Skills & Experience

  • Able to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally
  • Full driving licence and access to own vehicle
  • Strong organisational skills – able to prioritise own time and workload
  • Team player
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft packages and good keyboard skills
  • BSc Graduate in Rural Estate and Land Management
