Peak District National Park Authority - Bakewell, Derbyshire - Building Surveyor
£31,364 to £35,745 per annum plus a £4k golden hello*
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Building Surveyor to join the Peak District National Park Authority and help lead on the management and development of our key corporate properties and rural estate built assets.
You will play a key role in ensuring that we achieve our aim of making Assets a cornerstone of how we operate. The role will present an opportunity to work around the National Park, contributing to the management of our diverse property portfolio.
The post is based in Bakewell, Derbyshire and presents an excellent opportunity for a surveyor to gain experience across a range of areas, particularly heritage buildings and building techniques, procurement, specification, contract management and line management responsibilities. The role is ideal either for a chartered surveyor or those wishing to work towards becoming MRICS and the Authority has a programme of support in place to help post holders develop in this area.
As a Building Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing some of the key development projects across the Authority as well as managing or overseeing the delivery of a focused Building Surveying service, potentially including the completion of condition surveys, implementation of maintenance programmes and the management of smaller development projects.
Building Surveyors play a key part within the Authority in achieving development projects and condition objectives that ensure our property portfolio is fit for purpose, sustainable and protected into the future.
Working within a small but busy team, you will be a professional Surveyor with a relevant qualification (RICS/CIOB or construction related Degree or HNC).
Self-motivated, you must have good organisation and communication skills and be able to demonstrate practical and technical experience in a range of work including all types of modern and traditional construction, condition surveys, preparation of CAD plans, project monitoring and management.
You will have a track record of leading projects and the ability to manage your own workload and ways of working is essential.
The Peak District National Park was the first of Britain’s 15 national parks and is still enjoyed by millions, looking for both adventure and a breathing space to escape. It is also the most accessible due its proximity to four major cities of the UK and its 38,000 residents. We recognise the importance of our national park and our job is to speak up and care for the Peak District National Park for all to enjoy forever.
The Authority owns or manages approximately 450 built assets including operational properties, visitor facilities, agricultural properties, listed buildings, ex railway structures and office accommodation. The Building Surveyor role will work across this varied portfolio and gain a range of experience of differing construction types and ages of buildings.
