Cooper and Tanner are an established Firm of Chartered Surveyors, Auctioneers and Estate Agents. We have fourteen offices, located across Somerset and Wiltshire.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Rural Surveyor to join our Professional team at our Standerwick Office. You will join an established and knowledgeable team providing a wide range of services to our clients. Due to our location, and the nature of our Firm, this position boasts varied day to day working.

Main Purpose:

Providing rural professional service to a private client based at the Standerwick Office, which is located on the Somerset/Wiltshire border. To increase the client base, office profitability and promote the Firm to the best of your ability.

You will be primarily engaged in Rural Practice which will include the following:

  • General property and land management.
  • Claims for compensation, subsidies and grants.
  • Valuations for all purposes, both formal and informal including bank, probate, IHT planning, Pension etc.
  • Planning applications where experience and understanding allows.
  • Involvement in property auctions and sales/rentals by private treaty as required.

Additionally, this position comes with the opportunity to sell at a livestock market if desirable.

The successful candidate will be RICS and/or CAAV qualified, and will demonstrate:

  • A good knowledge of property and rural land matters and carry a minimum of 2 years in a similar role.
  • Excellent communication, and interpersonal skills; be self motivated, display initiative and have a high level of integrity.
  • A good level of IT competence and be a confident user of office 365.
  • Knowledge of the local area would be advantageous.
  • Use of own car, which is insured for business use.
