Buckminster - Leicestershire/Lincolnshire border - Assistant Land Agent

Job Description:

Salary: competitive according to cognate degree

Background

An exciting opportunity for a graduate to join Buckminster, to assist with managing an extensive and diverse range of residential, agricultural and commercial assets on the Leicestershire/Lincolnshire border. In addition to typical land agent duties, there is the need increasingly to focus on changes arising from public policy, in particular the move from area- to natural capital-based farm subsidy.

You will be a self-starter, working independently as much as alongside colleagues, financially literate, thorough, with a practical sense and an interest in the environmental agenda. We draw on various outside specialist consultants, but you will represent Buckminster for example at collaborative forums with neighbours and farm tenants alongside the Estate Land Agent. You will periodically interact with the business directors and main beneficiary, so will get a sense of strategic direction.

The open and close-knit team espouses the advantages of living and working in well-connected rural communities, and is committed to the continuous inward investment in the local economy. The property enhancements and developments it drives are designed to be leading-edge, while preserving the historic regional environment and heritage for future generations.

Duties

  • Assisting in any matters arising from the rural portfolio
  • Building relationships with and presenting to farm tenants
  • Prosecuting environmental projects on the ground
  • Instructing baseline audits and updates on natural capital and carbon accounting
  • Consideration of carbon credit and biodiversity off-set market opportunities
  • Seeking out land-based income and grant opportunities
  • Inputting in to budgeting

You will be required to live on the Estate, and a house will be provided, reflected in your package.

The position would suit someone seeking to be qualified as MRICS. Applications should include a CV and covering letter, to be sent by email to recruitment@buckminster.co.uk for the attention of the directors of Buckminster Management Limited.
