Applications invited for Board Members for National Parks and AONBs

27 February 2017

Applications are being invited for appointments to six English National Park Authorities, the Broads Authority and the Chilterns and Cotswolds AONB Conservation Boards. The positions will require a commitment of between 1 and 4 days per month, depending on the appointment and while they are not remunerated, allowances may be paid. Further details are available on the Cabinet Office website and the closing date for applications is 22nd March 2017.

CAAV Office - No Emails Received on 23rd February Due to Powercut

Now that power has been restored at the CAAV Central office following yesterday's powercut during the severe winds, it seems that any emails sent to one of our @caav.org.uk email addresses from 9.30 a.m. yesterday (23rd February) until around 8.30 a.m. this morning (24th February) have not been received as our server was down. Anyone who sent an email during this period should have received a bounce-back message. If that is the case, please do re-send the email to ensure it has reached us.

A new agricultural lease for Northern Ireland

The CAAV and the Northern Ireland Rural Valuers Association (NIRVA) launched a model agricultural lease for use in Northern Ireland at a meeting of professional advisers, farming representatives, civil servants, bankers and others in Antrim on 1st February 2017.

The model lease is available from the CAAV and NIRVA as well as their members. To find a NIRVA member near you who can advise on the lease, contact the NIRVA Secretary at mstuart@abercorn-estates.com or the CAAV at enquire@caav.org.uk.

Ecosystem services: more eco-babble or a business opportunity? BESS Internship Briefing Note

The attached briefing note has been produced by Charlotte Parkin as an intern for the Biodiversity & Ecosystem Service Sustainability (BESS) research programme to inform both CAAV members and the wider public of the opportunities for payments for ecosystem services (PES) and the role agents have to play in facilitating such agreements.
