Chief Executive of new Animal Health and Veterinary Laboratories Agency appointed

The Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Caroline Spelman, has appointed the first Chief Executive for the new Animal Health and Veterinary Laboratories Agency (AHVLA) which has been created as part of the Government's shake-up of arm's length bodies and agencies. The Chief Executive position is being taken up by Catherine Brown who is the current Chief Executive of Animal Health. The AHVLA has come about as a result of a merger of Animal Health and the Veterinary Laboratories Agency which and the new agency will come into being from 1st April 2011.
