Permission granted for judicial review of proposed Eco-town

The High Court has granted permission for a judicial review of the decision to site “Middle Quinton”, a new eco-town on a 600 acre site which was formerly owned by the Ministry of Defence, near Long Marsden, Stratford-upon-Avon in Warwickshire. The application made by The Better Accessible Responsible Development campaign (BARD), a residents’ campaign group, was permitted by The Honourable Mr Justice Collins who stated in his Order, “I note there must be concern that the defendant [Ms Blears] may have disqualified herself from considering any planning application for an eco-town because of perceived bias in its favour”. The matter is expected to come before the High Court before the end of the year.
Further information is available on the BARD website including a copy of Collins’ Order.
