Bluetongue detected in imported rams in East Sussex and Hertfordshire

DEFRA has today (27th August) announced that two rams located on premises near Lewes, East Sussex, and Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, have tested positive for Bluetongue (BTV8). The rams had been imported from the same premises located in the BTV8 Restricted Zone in Central France and are the UK's first cases of Bluetongue virus positive animals discovered this summer.
