Job description:

The Welbeck Estate is seeking an experienced person to manage a team of foreman, directly employed tradespeople and approved contractors within a building department, ensuring projects and maintenance works are delivered safely, to specification, on schedule and within budget to the highest standard of workmanship.

The role involves carrying out site visits and audits to agree programmes of work with foremen, ensuring the programmes of work are implemented and making regular inspections to ensure compliance and workmanship.  Monitoring and re-evaluating projects to ensure timescales are achieved and labour forces are allocated accordingly.  Prepare and submit progress reports, including any project deviations.  Monitor contractor and internal trades performance, advising on differences in workmanship.

They will also lead on all health and safety related matters (aided by the health and safety manager and consultant) and CDM compliance within the department.  This post carries a high level of responsibility, requiring good leadership and management and extensive liaison and communication skills.

This is a very interesting and varied role, with a team of 38 directly employed trades, foremen and administrators plus approved contractors, the department delivers on property refurbishments and developments, as well as planned maintenance and reactive repairs to the estates portfolio of let buildings.

Welbeck has constantly evolved over the centuries, today it remains a working estate and contains some of the country’s most important heritage buildings.
