Job description:

The Role

This is a varied rural role and will include responsibilities such as Estate Management, valuations, landlord and tenant, compensation and utilities, and rural property sales based from our Stratford upon Avon office. Your role will also create fee paying work from new and existing clients working in partnership with other SBK colleagues from across our offices.

The successful candidate will be prepared to work within the existing team but also to introduce new ideas, skills and efficiencies taking the lead where necessary. Of paramount importance is the need to get involved in our local communities and sell the wider benefits of Sheldon Bosley Knight, ultimately driving up fee income.

The job will require someone who is able to demonstrate experience in the various elements of the role and ideally will be a Registered Valuer (or well progressed towards).

Sheldon Bosley Knight are a firm of Estate Agents and Chartered Surveyors with offices in Stratford upon Avon, Leamington Spa, Kenilworth, Shipston-on-Stour & Evesham.  With roots dating make more than 150 years, we have extensive local knowledge and business experience in Warwickshire, Worcestershire, Oxfordshire, and Gloucestershire. The company has strong relationships with most local professional firms and plays a pivotal role in the communities that it serves. We have over 75 staff and consultants working out of 8 offices.


Chartered Surveyor

Ideally RICS Registered Valuer status and member of CAAV and/or BIAC

Knowledge & Experience

  • Rural estate management
  • Valuing rural land and property to sell or let
  • Compensation Claims
  • Agricultural Holdings Act Tenancies
  • Farm Business Tenancies
  • Farm Contracting Arrangements
  • Grazing agreements/licences
  • Basic Payment Scheme
  • Countryside Stewardship Schemes

RICS Red Book Valuations, preferably to include:

  • Inheritance Tax valuations
  • Capital Gains Tax valuations
  • Market value
  • Financial planning and arrangement of family assets
  • SIPP (Self-invested pension plans)
  • Insurance revaluations
  • Valuations for secure lending purposes

Essential Criteria:

  • Good interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with colleagues, clients and local professionals.
  • The ability to work in an organised and methodical fashion, with a high level of attention to detail.
  • The ability to manage time effectively, prioritising tasks to ensure that deadlines are met and budget adhered to.
  • A willingness to network into new and existing clients driving fee income
  • A good working knowledge of IT is essential, in particular a familiarity with and understanding of the Microsoft Office packages and preferably good keyboard skills.

Salary package to be offered is negotiable depending on experience, up to £75,000, possibly beyond for the finished article
