The Role / Location

An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic qualified chartered surveyor to work within the rural team in Savills’ Oxford Office working primarily for prestigious institutional clients on land and projects throughout England.

Savills Oxford is a multi-discipline office with a team of 115, offering a full range of services to both the public and the private sector. We act for many of the Oxford colleges as well as corporate and institutional bodies and private and individual clients such as farmers, landowners, homeowners, investors, business owners and entrepreneurs. We have a well-established presence in Oxfordshire and the surrounding counties and an experienced and dedicated team committed to providing a first class service to our clients.

This role offers considerable opportunities for the candidate to progress their career.  Savills offer unique training across a range of subjects which includes a comprehensive business management programme.  There are also opportunities to be part of national committees and focus groups.

Key Responsibilities

  • The management of a substantial portfolio of let residential agricultural and commercial property, including instigating & negotiating rent reviews, lease renewals and other landlord and tenant matters
  • Management of pro-active and reactive maintenance and repairs
  • Property letting
  • Working with team-members to ensure property compliance
  • Working with other Savills departments to support the efficient delivery of client projects
  • Spotting and delivering added value opportunities
  • Providing timely and accurate reporting to the client
  • Financial management working closely with the client accounting team in preparing budgets and managing cash flow and expenditure

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Self-starter with proactive and resourceful capabilities
  • Strong people skills with the ability to work effectively as part of the team
  • Commercially aware and able to negotiate independently
  • Able to problem solve effectively
  • Clear written and verbal communication style, including the ability to communicate at all levels
  • Able to work both individually and within a team dynamic
  • Resilient, adaptable and, above all, keen and enthusiastic
  • Strong understanding of landlord and tenant law and practice, and property compliance
  • MRICS and/or FAAV both highly desirable, but not essential if equivalent relevant experience demonstrated
