The Role / Location

Following recent restructuring, Savills Cornwall (based in Truro) is seeking a qualified rural surveyor to undertake a variety of work across the county, in a role that can be tailor-made to suit a skilled candidate with experience in estate management or professional consultancy.

The successful candidate will be part of a team which sits within the Rural, Energy and Projects (REP) division and carries out a varied and diverse range of instructions throughout Cornwall including estate management, rural planning, valuations, CPO/compensation, utilities, wayleaves, telecom lease renewals, landlord/tenant, expert witness, taxation etc.

This role is open to candidates nationally, and offers a rare opportunity for an outdoor enthusiast to improve their quality of life by working in Cornwall.

Key Responsibilities

There is an opportunity to vary the role to suit specific strengths, so the key responsibilities may likewise vary but will comprise some or all of the following:

  • Providing valuation advice to clients for loan security, taxation and other purposes
  • Producing reports to a high standard
  • Reporting to clients and senior colleagues
  • Adhering to internal processes, lender requirements and RICS regulations
  • Building the professional business through networking internally and externally, developing close relationships with existing and new clients
  • Developing and identifying new business opportunities
  • Keeping up to date with changing legislation, including valuation practices
  • Acting as a role model and supervisor to rotational graduates and apprentices

In addition to the tasks described above, the job holder may be required to carry out other duties as may reasonably be required from time to time.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • MRICS qualified (essential)
  • RICS Registered Valuer status
  • Ideally a minimum of 5 years PQE, but will consider less for the right individual
  • Experience in writing valuation reports for Red Book purposes
  • Good market knowledge & strong commercial awareness
  • Personable and outgoing with ability to work in an open plan office.
  • Communicate well with clients, colleagues and other departments within Savills – sharing views, data and information within the team
  • Well organised with good attention to detail
  • Strong analytical, research and report writing skills
  • Competent in Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to take sole responsibility for instructions from start to finish
  • Work quickly and efficiently to tight timescales
  • Ability to generate new instructions and build on the existing client base
  • Full clean driving licence
  • Team player
