Job description:

RSPB is seeking a Senior Rural Surveyor to join their Northern Ireland team in a part time established position (0.6FTE). This is an exciting opportunity to provide a first class land management service across some of the most nationally important countryside in Northern Ireland.

You will help deliver estate management across a diverse portfolio of sites in Northern Ireland and provide essential support for our ongoing programme of casework, land acquisition and estate management. This Senior Rural Surveyor post will be responsible for providing professional advice to all our reserves across Northern Ireland. Each reserve has its own team of staff who are line managed by an Area Manager. You will be advising these teams and the Area Manager on professional matters and providing wider strategic advice to the Land Director for Northern Ireland.

You will be part of a wider UK team of 19 Rural Surveyors and 2 Building surveyors who between them are responsible for providing both strategic and day to day professional advice on c151,000ha and several million pounds of built estate including commercial property.

You will be based at our Northern Ireland HQ in Belfast. You will have a practical knowledge of land, residential and commercial property management, environmental issues and conservation and sustainable development.  You will have an up to date understanding of what’s happening in the wider world of rural surveying.  You will use your knowledge and experience to advise colleagues and support them in the RSPB’s objective to create bigger, better and more joined up spaces for nature.

You'll thrive on negotiating the best deals. You must be prepared to challenge the norm by problem solving and coming up with innovative solutions to the various challenges ahead.

About you

You will be a corporate member of RICS or other relevant equivalent professional organisation with significant post qualification experience of acquisition/disposal work and estate management in the rural environment. You will be enthusiastic, a good communicator with initiative and attention to detail and ability to work in a team and independently.
