Role Purpose

The post holder will provide specialist and technical land agency services in the management of land and assets critical to NRW service where NRW is the owner, responsible body or has a substantial interest under supervision of a chartered surveyor.

The post holder will contribute to the management of significant financial, legal, operational and reputational risk arising from the management of land and assets.

The post holder will act as a specialist lead for their area of work and interpret changes to policy and law and advise and motivate colleagues accordingly.

This role will be based across Mid-Wales and will support two Chartered Surveyors in the delivery of a Land Agency Service across the area.  The work involves management of a large and varied portfolio including forestry, protected sites, agricultural land and water resources assets.  As well as managing the NRW estate, the role will deal with agreements with third parties on private land and access to third party land using statutory powers.

Qualifications and Skills

Qualified Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (Rural or General Practice Pathway, or similar) or Graduate in another discipline willing to complete the Post Graduate Diploma in Surveying and Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors’ Assessment of Professional Competency and become a Chartered Surveyor within an agreed time period; or an enrolled student member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors working towards full membership.

Experience in property management and able to demonstrate experience of working with legal documents such as leases, conveyances, wayleaves, licences, title documentation etc.

Proven ability to analyse property related issues and to develop solutions to deliver the optimum overall outcome, often working in collaboration with others.

A sound working knowledge of a wide range of legislation and common law relating to bodies with statutory responsibilities.

Experience of assisting in managing either private or public- sector land.

Experience of working in partnership with fellow professionals of mixed disciplines (e.g. engineers, building surveyors, cost consultants, designers, environmental managers) to deliver large operational programmes.

Sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
