Job description:

Full Time - Permanent

We are seeking a highly motivated, knowledgeable and experienced Rural Surveyor to join our Assets, Estates and Facilities Management Team at Dorset Council.

You will work in a small team of Surveyors and Valuers helping to deliver Dorset Council's policies and priorities in relation to its property estate, providing professional advice and services to other Dorset Council services, external partners and organisations.

What you will be doing 

The role will include undertaking a range of rural estate management and asset disposal duties. These duties include the day to day management of the Council's 2,500 ha (6,200 acre) County Farm Estate, which has a national reputation for innovation and good practice, as well as undertaking the acquisition of land for Highway schemes and supporting the management of the Council's wider amenity and conservation land holdings.

This is an exciting and very varied role within the Council.

About you

We are looking for an individual with post qualification experience in rural estate management, especially in dealing with tenancies granted under both the Agricultural tenancies Act 1995 and Agricultural Holdings Act 1986.

You will -

  • be a strong team player who can contribute to joint targets and be able to work on your own initiative
  • be able to communicate with people at all levels and be accurate and precise in your written work.
  • have the ability to resolve difficulties using diplomacy and negotiation skills.
