A new senior position has arisen for an experienced Rural Surveyor to join our reputable Rural team in Harrogate as a Partner.

The Rural business carried out from the Harrogate office of Carter Jonas practices across the whole of the Yorkshire region, working closely with our office in York, serving a growing private and institutional client base. The successful candidate will play a key role in the ongoing growth of our Yorkshire business and helping the team to achieve the ambitions and goals of our business plan. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to take their rural surveying career to the next level in what is a varied and interesting role.

  • Management of private and institutional rural estates in Yorkshire; having direct client contact, working as part of a team including having oversight over other surveyors, providing high level management strategy, liaising with external professionals and other advisors
  • Responsible for delivering a mix of landlord and tenant, and other professional work
  • Working with others to expand the business
  • Contribution to the growth of the business by identifying and developing viable fee earning opportunities including general professional work
  • Carrying out excellent client relationship management
  • Comprehensive responsibility for an existing and expanding portfolio of clients, both private and institutional, ensuring the right balance of customer service and profitability.
  • Pro-active participation in the management and development of team members, with three direct reports


You will be an RICS qualified Chartered Surveyor with at least 5 years post qualification in a rural surveying role. You will have an excellent track record in estate management and general professional work with a sound knowledge of farming and sporting enterprises. As an experienced surveyor, you will be proactive in identifying and developing  new business streams on estates and have the ability to develop established and potential relationships with clients. You will be driven to be part of a successful team and be able to lead, support and develop existing team members.
