WSP is the UK's largest supplier of Land Referencing services and is looking to broaden and strengthen its team of experienced property professionals across the UK with immediate vacancies for Land Managers to join our established teams in our Guildford/London, Manchester, Birmingham and Edinburgh offices. This is an exciting opportunity to join an expanding multidisciplinary firm with the Land Services team in the delivery of Land Referencing, Landowner Engagement, Survey Access, Wayleaves and Consents, Statutory Orders, Compensation Agreements in support of major infrastructure projects in the UK.

We are looking for experienced staff with excellent landowner engagement skills and who are interested in developing their careers across a varied range of projects in the infrastructure development sectors including roads, rail and electricity projects. In Land Services, we are committed to providing a career structure and path for individuals seeking experience in working with multi-disciplinary teams across a range of sectors and locations across the UK.

A typical week would include:

  • Land project delivery, providing support to clients ensuring that the development of project technical work is delivered on time, within budget and to the agreed standards
  • Land referencing, title searches and maintain accurate records of land ownership
  • Site visits and meetings to confirm land ownership details and provide scheme updates
  • Access agreements, wayleave agreements and consents
  • Working closely in a team environment with our engineering, environmental, lands and wayleaving teams
  • Creation of records of condition
  • Maintaining concise records of landowner issues and relaying these to project teams
  • Progress reporting of land issues and attending weekly/monthly project meetings
  • Negotiation of compensation claims
  • Liaison with land agents, solicitors and other stakeholders.
  • Land acquisition

About You

This role would suit an experienced Lands professional, who is working within the rural or energy sectors and was looking for the opportunity to develop their career.

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

  • Proven track record in the management and delivery of land-related services
  • Ability to communicate effectively and have strong influencing and negotiating skills
  • Experience of infrastructure development schemes and ideally to include Consents and Wayleaves in the electricity industry
  • Strong working knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g. Electricity Act 1989, Planning Act 2008 etc)
  • Demonstrable experience and track record of the development of Orders and/or acquisition of relevant Statutory consents and knowledge of relevant legislation
  • Strong landowner engagement skills
  • Knowledge of the rural environment and farming practices would be desirable
  • Associate Membership of RICS would be advantageous
  • Strong adherence to quality assurance and good document management skills
  • A full UK driving licence is required.
