Job description:

The Tenant Farmers Association is expanding its complement of rural surveyors and is seeking applications from surveyors at all career stages to fulfil a number of posts.  We would be interested in hearing from the following:

  • Mid-career rural surveyors looking  for a new challenge
  • Early career Surveyors who have completed APC and or their CAAV qualifications and are looking for a new impactful role
  • Graduates looking towards completing their APC or CAAV qualifications

The TFA is seeking to broaden its remit to become the representative organisation for all farmers who do not own the land they use for their businesses and also to provide members with direct access to surveyors who can act on their behalf on a not-for-profit basis.  We are therefore looking for rural surveyors who share the ethos of the organisation and who will play a key role in taking the organisation forward.

We are seeking candidates who are enthusiastic, professional, highly organised and motivated for these important roles which involve day-to-day interaction with members of the Association who are seeking advice information and support.  Except for graduates, candidates should have previous experience in advisory or advocacy roles within the farming community.

Successful candidates will be expected to advise members on a wide range of issues including all agricultural tenancy matters, the application of agricultural policy, planning, rural development and also have an input into the TFA’s policy development work.  Successful candidates should expect to travel extensively throughout England and Wales.

An affinity with the agricultural industry and a demonstrable ability to work flexibly in a small team, often independently, will also be requirements for the posts.  The successful candidates must have an understanding of the landlord/tenant system in agriculture in England and Wales and there will be opportunities to attend appropriate training courses to enhance this knowledge particularly for those closer to the beginning of their career.
