The Role

An opportunity exists for either a graduate or a newly qualified Chartered Surveyor. 

This role is principally to assist with management and professional work carried out in respect of our rural estate clients.  The precise duties will vary depending on the nature of the work being undertaken by the department. 

This is a position which requires high levels of self motivation and drive to build up detailed rural surveying knowledge and good contacts.  The candidate will be registered for their APC and will be supported and be allocated a Supervisor, Counsellor and the relevant training to record good experience for the duration of their contract. 

Primary Objectives

  • Estate management focussed with private and institutional clients
  • Property management and administration including lease renewals, property maintenance, negotiation of leases and compensation claims among other tasks
  • Preparation of management reports
  • Residential and agricultural lettings and rent reviews
  • Record keeping and terrier maintenance in relation to managed estates
  • Liaison with contractors and estate staff in respect of the maintenance and repair of managed estates
  • General liaison with clients, tenants staff and other stakeholders of managed estates, on a face to face basis as well as via correspondence and on the telephone.
  • Research in respect of professional work and company records on behalf of Senior Surveyors and Surveyors
  • Administration within the department to include minuting meetings, ensuring routine business development is undertaken and marketing tasks completed
  • As appropriate working with Food and Farming colleagues on grant applications
  • In addition to the tasks described above, the job holder may be required to carry out other duties as may reasonably be required from time to time

Person Specification

  • Committed to completing RICS APC and gaining MRICS accreditation or recently qualified
  • Articulate, professional and persuasive with good interpersonal skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Self-starter with proactive and resourceful capabilities
  • Able to problem solve effectively

Salary and Benefits

  • Salary subject to experience
  • 25 days holiday plus Bank Holidays
  • Office Hours – 9am – 5.30pm
