This is a fantastic opportunity to assist the Property Department at Cowdray Estate with the management of the significant let property portfolio and to be involved with the many diverse businesses across the Estate.

Cowdray is a varied and significant business incorporating investment activities together with trading businesses. 

The primary role of the Property Department is to manage the portfolio in a commercial and sustainable manner representing the Estate’s wide-ranging objectives.  The Department acts as a support service to other departments to provide advice and project management services. 

This is a very varied and interesting role on a dynamic and forward thinking Estate that offers great opportunity for a graduate or recently qualified surveyor to gain experience and build a career in rural surveying.

The candidate will support the Property Management Team with residential, commercial, agricultural and other property management and general estate management matters.

The candidate will undertake or assist with the following for all property types across the Estate:

Let Property

  • Rent reviews
  • Lease Renewals
  • Lease obligations
  • Property inspections
  • Budget preparation
  • Service charges
  • End of tenancy matters
  • Repairs and planned maintenance
  • Refurbishments and renovations
  • Compliance
  • Rent collection
  • Debt management and recovery of arrears
  • Discharge of Landlord and Tenants obligations
  • MEES compliance

General Estate Management

  • Insurance claims and renewals
  • Re-charges for supply of services
  • Empty property management
  • Restrictive covenants
  • Easements/wayleaves
  • Rights of Way
  • First point of contact for tenants
  • Other general estate management matters

Personal Specification

  • To have completed a RICS accredited degree
  • To be a graduate or recently qualified surveyor
  • To be commercially astute
  • Must relish the opportunity to take on responsibility
  • Willing to ‘get stuck in’ and to take on all manner of tasks
  • Creativity balanced with technical ability and good observational skills
  • Seeking an opportunity to improve skills, knowledge and experience 
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Good organisational and prioritising ability
  • Initiative and ability to work under pressure
  • Team player
  • Maintains a professional manner at all times
  • Friendly, outgoing, cheerful and enthusiastic to do a high quality job at all times
  • Good working knowledge of standard Microsoft suite
  • Car owner with full clean UK driving licence

Full time. Monday to Friday 9.00am to 5.30pm.
