Job Description: An exciting opportunity to join Ardent, in their growing new office in Milton Keynes (opened August 2018), specialising in land assembly for transport, utility, and renewable energy projects. We are compulsory purchase focussed but a large volume of our land assembly work is achieved through negotiation and private agreement.

 

We are seeking to appoint an ambitious Chartered Rural Surveyor who has the necessary skills and drive to make a positive contribution towards enhancing our reputation as leader in the delivery of major transport, utility and renewable Development Consent Order (DCO) projects. We are currently the leading land advisors for DCOs having been involved in over 30% of the DCO projects to date. Predominantly based in Milton Keynes, the job will also involve being on site consulting/ negotiating with landowners and land agents.

The candidate will be involved in a range of exciting rural based projects, working alongside engineers, environmental specialists and legal teams to deliver land for clients. The role will involve negotiating rural land acquisition, rural land valuation, negotiating option agreements for infrastructure and cable/pipe easements as well as conducting route optioneering, scoping reports and consultation with affected landowners. The position will also involve liaising with the client, project engineers and environmental consultants and working as part of a large project team. The candidate will be fully supported to help grow this sector of the business and seek to win new clients.

Candidate requirements: 

  • MRICS (rural) qualified
  • A strong understanding of rural businesses and how they operate
  • Experience in the rural utility and renewable sector.
  • Have experience of involvement with large infrastructure projects.
  • Have an understanding of the Compulsory Purchase process and DCO projects under the 2008 Planning Act (preferable but not essential)
  • A proven track record of negotiating rural land acquisition, option agreements and land valuation.
  • Full driving licence.
  • Enthusiastic and a team player.
